These wage hikes are projected to raise workers' earnings by more than $397 million in total.
The federal minimum wage has remained at $7.25 an hour since 2009; however, Americans today face higher costs of living.
Specific increases include Alaska's minimum wage rising from $11.91 to $13.00, Oregon's to $15.05, and Washington D.C.'s to $17.95.
Additionally, twelve other cities and counties, including Chicago, Montgomery County, and several in California, will also implement minimum wage increases in July.
