How your AI searches could change your Facebook feed

Meta's live AI demonstration doesn't go according to plan
  • Meta will use data from user interactions with its AI tools to deliver targeted advertisements across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
  • The new policy, effective from 16 December, will apply to all users globally, excluding those in the UK, South Korea, and the European Union.
  • Both voice chats and text exchanges with Meta AI will be scanned to understand user interests and personalise content and ads, for example, recommending hiking-related items if a user discusses hiking.
  • There will be no option for users to opt out of this data collection and ad targeting policy.
  • While Meta AI is designed to learn extensively about users, certain sensitive topics such as religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and political views will be exempt from ad targeting.
