Chinese scientists at Tianjin University have developed a groundbreaking lithium metal battery.
The new battery achieves an energy density of over 600 watt-hours per kilogram, which is double that of Tesla's most advanced electric vehicle battery.
This innovation represents a 200-300 per cent improvement in energy density and endurance compared to current lithium metal battery technology.
The breakthrough was achieved by developing a 'delocalised electrolyte' that enhances stability and ion transport within the battery.
The technology has already been implemented in high-energy lithium metal batteries for drones and exceeds China's 2025 energy density targets for electric vehicle batteries.
