Tokyo road submerged in water as record rainfall causes flooding
Japan: Record rainfall triggers flooding in Tokyo
Record rainfall has caused severe flooding across parts of Japan, particularly in Tokyo.
Footage from Thursday showed cars navigating fully submerged roads in an underpass in Shibuya, Tokyo.
The capital experienced 100mm of rainfall, leading to warnings for "record-breaking short-duration heavy rain" in the Kanto-Koshin region.
The heavy downpour caused the Meguro River to reach its flood risk water level, a threshold that can prompt local authorities to issue evacuation orders.
