This call follows a cyber attack on JLR several weeks ago, which has led to production shutdowns and reports of workers being laid off or receiving reduced pay.
The cyber attack is estimated to be costing JLR around £72m daily in sales, with an industry expert suggesting £1.7bn worth of cars have not been built.
Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham emphasised the government's responsibility to protect jobs in vital industries and called for a scheme similar to one for Alexander Dennis staff.
