The UK is set for a wet weekend, with rain moving in from the west on Friday night and continuing through Saturday and Sunday.
The Met Office has confirmed that Hurricane Gabrielle is not responsible for this anticipated rainfall, as its remnants will stay well to the south of the UK.
Hurricane Gabrielle is expected to travel close to the Azores on Friday and then eastwards to the Bay of Biscay, off the coasts of France and northern Spain.
While not directly causing the rain, the remnants of Gabrielle will remotely influence the timing and persistence of the rain band over the UK.
Before the wet weekend, Wednesday and Thursday will be largely fine and sunny, with temperatures remaining around the seasonal average of 17C to 18C.
