  • Men are being urged to avoid purchasing unauthorised erectile dysfunction (ED) pills online due to significant health risks.
  • The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued the warning, highlighting that criminals exploit the stigma and embarrassment surrounding ED.
  • The MHRA's criminal enforcement unit seized approximately 19.5 million doses of illegal ED drugs between 2021 and 2025, including 4.4 million doses in 2025 alone.
  • These illicit pills often lack active ingredients, contain incorrect dosages or harbour hidden drugs and toxic substances, posing serious health dangers.
  • The MHRA is actively combating online sales, having disrupted over 1,500 websites and social media accounts illegally selling medical products in 2025.
