Trump says there has been an arrest in search for Charlie Kirk's killer
Conservative activist and Trump ally, Charlie Kirk, was fatally shot in the neck during an outdoor speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
The suspected gunman, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Washington, Utah, is now in custody.
Law enforcement recovered a high-powered rifle near the campus.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said on Friday that Robinson confessed to a family member when then reached out to a family friend Thursday night, who then contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
President Donald Trump earlier announced that Kirk would posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the university has closed until Monday.
