Food and water delivered to desperate people in hurricane-hit Jamaica

  • The US has deployed a regional disaster assistance response team, and Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness has prioritised restoring electricity and telecommunications, especially in Falmouth.
  • The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) will make a record payout of $70.8 million to Jamaica within 14 days to aid recovery efforts.
