Over 3,000 Boeing workers in Missouri and Illinois are set to begin striking after rejecting a four-year labour agreement.
The strike follows a landslide vote on 27 July by 3,200 workers who assemble and maintain advanced aircraft and weapons systems, including F-15 and F/A-18 jets.
The IAM Union stated that the proposed contract “fell short of addressing the priorities and sacrifices of the skilled IAM Union workforce”.
Boeing said they were “disappointed” by the decision, noting their offer included 40 per cent average wage growth and resolved issues on alternative work schedules.
The company confirmed it is prepared for the strike and has implemented a contingency plan to ensure continued customer support.
