Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old federal employee known as 'Big Balls,' was attacked in an apparent attempted carjacking in Washington, D.C., over the weekend.
President Donald Trump shared a photo of the injured Coristine on Truth Social, asserting that crime in D.C. is “out of control” and threatening to “federalize” the city.
The incident occurred at 3am on Sunday when a group of juveniles allegedly approached Coristine and an unnamed woman and attacked him.
Police intervened, leading to the arrest of two 15-year-olds, a male and a female, who were subsequently charged with unarmed carjacking.
The president's threat to take federal control of D.C. comes despite a reported 35 per cent drop in violent crime in the city during 2024.
