Locals flee as Bangkok street collapses into sinkhole
Massive sinkhole opens up in Bangkok as it swallows parts of busy street
A massive sinkhole opened in Bangkok on Wednesday, wallowing parts of a busy street and leading to local evacuations.
The nearly 50 metre-wide hole covered a four-lane road, pulling down electricity poles and damaging three vehicles, though no casualties were reported.
Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt attributed the collapse to ongoing construction at a nearby underground station.
As a result, a nearby hospital announced the closure of its outpatient services for two days.
