Starmer vows to work with Musk on AI growth after billionaire's criticism of government
A new YouGov survey, commissioned by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, reveals strong public opposition to students using artificial intelligence to fully complete school coursework.
The poll found 89 per cent of UK adults deem it "unacceptable" for pupils to use AI for entire assignments, though opinion is split on its use for improving grammar and punctuation.
While 46 per cent find AI acceptable for enhancing writing mechanics, 44 per cent disagree, highlighting a nuanced view on AI's role in education.
The survey also indicates that most UK adults oppose teachers using AI for marking coursework, but a majority support its use for administrative tasks like lesson planning.
These findings prompt the chief executive of exam board OCR to call for a co-ordinated national strategy on AI in education, emphasising that coursework remains vital.
