The ‘dangerous’ baby sleeping bags being sold online
How to get your child back into a better sleep routine ahead of new school year
An investigation by Which? found that numerous baby sleeping bags sold on online marketplaces, including Amazon, eBay, and Etsy, pose a significant suffocation risk.
These dangerous products often feature hoods or lack armholes, failing to comply with British Standards Institution safety standards.
Many of the identified sleeping bags were similar or identical to items previously recalled by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS).
Which? expressed concern that these potentially lethal products remain available despite earlier market surveillance and removals by the OPSS.
The consumer group is urging shoppers to avoid specific unsafe features and is advocating for online marketplaces to be held legally accountable for selling dangerous goods.
