‘World first’ music festival to launch in July

- Social media platform WeAre8 has announced a three-day virtual event billed as the "World's first social media Music Festival."
- With “no stages” and “no ticket barriers”, WeAre8 said the algorithm-free festival will be focused on "pure music discovery", allowing artists to be discovered organically with direct links to their Spotify profiles.
- Aiming to provide a global stage for emerging artists, 8fest will feature daily line-ups handpicked by industry insiders, including Robin Murray of Clash Magazine, Gus Unger-Hamilton of alt-J, and TK from Finesse Foreva.
- Scheduled for July 11-13, 8fest is a collaboration between WeAre8, music platform Gotobeat, and the music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins.
- “With 8fest, music becomes more than sound - it becomes what it has always been - a catalyst for deep human connection,” WeAre8 CEO Zoe Kalar said.
