A reboot of the iconic television series Baywatch has been given the green light by Fox and is scheduled to return to screens next year.
The new series will be co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, consisting of 12 episodes for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
Matt Nix, known for Burn Notice, will serve as showrunner, with original co-creator Greg Bonann also involved in the project.
The aim is to introduce a new generation to the 'California dream' and the world of the famous lifeguards, while also reconnecting with existing fans.
Baywatch first aired in 1989, becoming one of the most-watched series globally, and was previously revived as a film in 2017 starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
