How Superman’s dog Krypto is making a real-world impact
Google searches for “adopt a dog near me” reportedly surged by 513 per cent during Superman’s opening weekend (James Gunn/X)
The new Superman film, featuring the hero's dog Krypto, has significantly boosted interest in dog adoption.
Google searches for “adopt a dog near me” reportedly surged by 513 per cent during the film's opening weekend, with “rescue dog adoption near me” also rising by 163 per cent.
Searches for “adopt a schnauzer”, Krypto's specific breed mix, saw a 299 per cent increase.
Woofz CEO Natalia Shahmetova cautioned potential adopters that pet ownership is a serious, long-term commitment.
Krypto's character was inspired by director James Gunn's own rescue dog, Ozu, whose challenging behaviour influenced the film's narrative.
