Date set for Jimmy Kimmel ABC return after Charlie Kirk comments
What Jimmy Kimmel said on live TV about Charlie Kirk's death that got him suspended by ABC
Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show is scheduled to return to ABC on Tuesday evening after an indefinite suspension.
The show was pulled following Kimmel's controversial comments on 14 September about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the identity of the suspected gunman, Tyler Robinson.
Disney, ABC's parent company, stated the suspension was to avoid 'inflaming a tense situation' and that Kimmel's remarks were 'ill-timed and thus insensitive'.
Nexstar Media Group, a significant owner of television stations, had previously objected to Kimmel's comments and replaced his show with alternative programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.
The suspension ignited a debate over free speech, leading over 400 celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston and Meryl Streep, to sign an open letter criticising ABC's decision.
