Sir: Though one hardly applauds someone who donates his organs on condition they are given to a white patient (report, 7 July), presumably he is entitled to his views, however unacceptable we find them. When emotion is cleared away and we start thinking straight, it seems there are two alternatives: reject the donated organ or disregard the wishes of the dead man who offered it. I'm sure patients waiting for transplant organs will want to know exactly what instructions Frank Dobson has given his Permanent Secretary.
